I want to thank Hambright PR and Sarah Castille for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC!

The synopsis:

Steal My Breath Away is the first book in the Havencrest U series, and centres around Haley Chapman, an aspiring singer who dreams of signing with the biggest music record label out there. However, as the daughter of a senator, she is expected to fulfill her studies and go into politics. An incident during a performance forces her mother to assign her a bodyguard, someone close to the family and who served in the same Air Force pilot as Haley’s brother — Ace Murphy. With their history and tension, Haley needs to come to terms with her feelings about him and whether they help or hinder her road to success.

My thoughts:

This was my first ever singer x bodyguard and I really liked it! The tension, the intensity, and the drama were everything I needed and more! It reminded me a lot of Twisted Love, but with even more stakes and action.

I love Haley’s character and resonate with her emotionally. She’s the type to keep her thoughts to herself and pretend her issues don’t exist; I’m like this to some extent. She’s also inspiring and will do whatever it takes to achieve her dream as a well-known singer.

Then you have Ace, a compelling figure marked by a complex past that affects how he acts in the present. He is confident and charismatic, yet vulnerable and guilty too. His relationship with Haley challenges these emotions, which over time becomes a journey of self-discovery, healing and growth. Although this is a romance with the brother’s best friend, both characters prove their relationship is more than that.

As Haley’s closest friend and confidante, Paige is supportive and does whatever she can to ensure Haley’s dreams are materalised. She’s loyal but isn’t afraid to doubt Haley’s actions or thoughts surrounding Ace and her safety. They’re honestly friendship goals because of how much they look out for one another!

Overall, this was a 4-star read from me, and I would love to read more about Haley and Ace if I could! Definitely give this a read when it comes out!
