Strange Houses by Uketsu
βI canβt tell you how many people have told me their scary house stories.
But none of them can compare to the houses in this story. These strange, strange houses.β
My thoughts:
Guys, I canβt even begin to explain how creepy and unnerving this book was! π¨ Strange Houses is a Japanese mystery novel that uses unsettling floor plans to tell a chilling story. I donβt know why I thought it was a good idea to start reading it late in the evening but it was so freaky my boyfriend had to console me and make sure I was able to sleep peacefully afterwards π
π.
The book was amazing though β the formatting of the narrative, the illustrations, and the disturbing nature of the mystery was what made it incredibly captivating and compelling to read and keep reading. I genuinely couldnβt put it down and managed to finish half of the book within an hour! ππ» This is a translated book too (itβs originally in Japanese), so the translations were very simple and easy to follow.
This was a 4.5 star read for me and definitely one for those who love a good freaky but intriguing mystery. It will have you on the edge of your seats and get you thinking about the narrative all day and night!
