Strange Pictures by Uketsu
“When faced with true sorrow, people lose even the strength to shed tears.”
My thoughts:
I think I should’ve read this one first before Strange Houses because it was absolutely incredible and worth every minute!
I really love how the narrative was presented — it’s a collection of stories but are ultimately intertwined and connected to one overall story. We are given illustrations too, which helps us to follow the storytelling and track how the given mysteries are solved. It’s like a puzzle and I was so here for it!!
This was well-paced and I wasn’t expecting any of the plot twists or ending! There were a few speculations, accusations, and false conclusions by the characters (with some either deliberately or unintentionally leading us astray), but it didn’t prepare me for the revelation in the final outcome. I would definitely pay to re-read this again for the first time because oh my god it was amazing!
I wouldn’t say this one is as creepy as Strange Houses (this one has a bit more action and thriller vibes), but it’s just as mysterious, compelling and thrilling. This was an instant 5-star read for me, and I really hope you all get the chance to pick it up one day if you love this sort of stuff!
